Dear Dr. Murray Swanson, and Potential Patients of his.

I'm taking the time to describe a great man. Someone with amazing professionalism. Someone who knows how to take care of themselves first to ensure that they can take care of others.

I know you can't always plan for what life throws at you but he does an amazing job of getting to know what life is going to bring to you. Then he plans for what we're going to do about it so you're ready the time it comes around. He helps you build skills to protect yourself and he's willing to defend you if you're not strong enough.

He has an amazing work-ethic. He's the second one in the office to just drop off his coat and say good morning to the cleaning staff before going to see his patients in hospital. Because of that simple act of kindness he has the cleanest office in the entire building. Even though he doesn't take the time to notice that he notices other people and that's why his office is so clean.

He's constantly going to professional development to keep his knowledge of his medication and the diseases that he is treating. However if you ask him it's not about the terminology it's about what his patient needs and requires that is the most important. "I treat people" is something I've heard him say. He always wants to know the best course of action.

His office is full of gifts that other patients have given to him over the years. He cherishes them and puts them on display for other people to see. He cares for his patients as he would want to be cared for himself.

He understands that sometimes he has to make hard choices for me and other patients but that's part of his responsibilities and he meets it with dignity.

When he's on call and at the office and I happen to go in and see him. He is sure to let me know there maybe interruption in our session but it's nothing to do with me.

He has been a doctor my whole life. It's funny I remember one session we talked about where I was born and they possibility that he may have been the doctor delivering me :) I told him that can't be right because there is no doctors or nurses in the room the day I was born. My father caught me because my mom was giving birth to me. It was just the three of us. But it was funny imagining what it would be like. Now I just bug him about being late sometimes. Although I must tell you the only reason the man is late is because somebody needed help and he did not hesitate to stopped to helped them. When he came to get me if he's late he apologizes. I can't say he's the last one out of the office but he make sure to return all of his phone calls, check whatever needs to be checked, before saying good night, and going home.

Dr. Swanson is a strong, healthy, wise and caring man. Who has the ability and beliefs necessary to hold the title of doctor.
